The purpose of the project is to establish the potential of magnetic refrigeration in refrigeration systems compared with traditional technologies. The technology utilises the ability of magnetic materials to shift temperatures in magnetic fields, which, in essence, is a very efficient process. Another benefit of magnetic refrigeration is its environmentally-neutral features and low noise levels. Over the next four years, the project partners will develop the technology
to find out to which extent this can be converted into commercial products.
At Danfoss, the project is headed by Christian Veje from Danfoss Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Advanced Engineering, who is a member of
the project-related steering committee.
