Danfoss compressors and controls have been selected for many years by leading OEMs for liquid chillers, packaged air conditioning, rooftop units, reversible heat pumps, process cooling equipment and computer air conditioning.
With the recent acquisition of the US-based company, Scroll Technologies, Danfoss now offers a complete range of R410A compressors for residential, light commercial and commercial applications from 7.5 kW(*) to 90kW(* ) and up to 540kW(*) including manifolded systems.
Residential and Light Commercial Applications
The range of Scroll Tech compressors designed for residential and light commercial applications offers the most reliable and long-lasting compressor in the HVAC industry thanks to its advanced technology and high product quality. With millions of Scroll Tech compressors already installed in the field and over 30 specific patents registered, Danfoss Scroll Technologies has acquired a broad and proven experience in air conditioning applications. Among its multiple product benefits, can be highlighted:
- Simple, light and compact for easy assembly and service
- An innovant disk check valve placed in the compressor fixed scroll, a highly optimized motor and an adaptive control system enable the most quiet, efficient and energy-saving solutions in the market by reducing pressure drop and avoiding the reverse rotation noise at shut-down
- Proven competitive life tests under extreme operating conditions ensure our compressors to satisfy requirements of all air conditioning applications
- Internal safeties which allow a better protection of the compressor, hence longer service life and lower service cost
Developed for R410A, the new range of Scroll Tech compressors available for capacities from 7.5 kW(*) to 20 kW(*) is designed on two compressor platforms and offers many possible combinations of manifolded systems. A specific 5-Ton/15kW(*) model for R410A will be available during third quarter 2007.
In order to secure flexible and fast deliveries in Europe, Middle East and Africa, a central stock for Scroll Tech compressors has been implemented in Europe.
On the middle range, the Performer light commercial compressor range, with thousands of hours of testing, has proven:

- Sound level as low as 70 dBA
- Compact and light, compressor weight has been reduced by 25% over R22 equivalent, perfect for applications where unit weight has to be limited
- High reliability and robustness over a wide application envelope suitable for cooling units only and reversible heat pumps.
Developed for R410A, the new range of Performer light commercial compressors available for capacities from 21 kW(*) to 90 kW(*) includes manifolded systems with already 13 tandems and 2 trios. All manifolded systems have been qualified in our lab enabling our customers not only to secure the compressors operation but also save time and reduce costs on development. A new Performer light commercial 15-Ton/45kW(*) model will be available during third quarter 2007.
Commercial Applications
The Performer commercial compressor, already selected by major OEMs for air conditioning applications, offers multiple advantages:
- First on the new and growing market of large R410A commercial applications, Danfoss has acquired an unmatched experience enabling its product development team to again bring some recent improvements to its performance
- Compact and light, both 15T/45kW(*) and 20T /60kW(*) models have been designed on the same 15T compressor platform enabling easy manifolding and part load
- Sound level has been reduced over R407C equivalent compressor models available on the market
Developed for R410A, the Performer commercial compressor range, from 45kW(*) to 90 kW(*), includes manifolded systems with all combinations of compressors qualified in our lab. Standardized piping design identical for all tandem and trio configurations and the new oil equalization line are the clear advantages of the 9 tandems and 4 trios in the range.
Danfoss Performer compressors are manufactured in France, China and USA ensuring close collaboration and high delivery performance to global partners in all regions.
The new R410A compressors can be matched with a full portfolio of R410A dedicated Danfoss line of components and controls such as thermostatic and electronic expansion valves, solenoid valves, filter driers and sight glasses, pressure and temperature devices, service valves, four-way valves, pressure switches. This last year, Danfoss has been launching new air conditioning controls such as a new electronic expansion valves driver. New products are still to come in the third quarter of 2007 with a new electronic expansion valve, a new compressor drive and a new unit controller.
The acquisition of Qinbao in September 2006 enables Danfoss to complete its range of compressors and controls with brazed plate heat exchangers especially designed for the HVAC industry.
Danfoss customized solutions save time and money for our OEM customers. In cooperation with customer engineers, Danfoss can deliver complete, customized functions and subassemblies using a wide variety of Danfoss products. As an example, component assemblies consisting of expansion valves, filter driers, ball valves and pressure temperature devices or entire compressor functions which may include scroll compressors, ball valves and pressure and temperature devices.
