This year, the Danfoss Drives supplies more than 450 VLT® AutomationDrive, harmonic filters and resistors for Ecopetrol - Empresa Colombiana de Petroleo S.A - the Colombian state oil company, that operates more than 104 oil and gas fields in the South American country.
William Alves Dos Santos, Sales Manager for Colombia, says: “Ten years ago, Danfoss began a partnership with DRG General Distribution and Representation, one of the most important engineer consulting companies in this field, which provides instrumentation and automation projects, products and services.” And this partnership has paid off…
“This year’s business with Ecopetrol confirmed our reputation for extracting heavy crude oil,” says William Alves Dos Santos.
Some of the main arguments that convinced Ecopetrol to buy from Danfoss were that the drives are reliable and provide the high performance needed to extract heavy crude oil – and a competitive price and local service shop in the region – something Danfoss’ competitors could not provide Other arguments are that the drives are easy to programme and that maintenance costs are low.
William says: “The crude oil fields in Colombia require special pumps to work 24/7, pumping oil from the underground wells, and Danfoss VLT® drives have met the heavy demands. Last year, Danfoss supplied 140 VLT® drives from 22 to 40 kW, to Mansarovar Energy de Colombia, at Jasmin Fields, where the crude oil has a very high viscosity, and requires special pumping applications.”
