Danfoss Drives Saves a Power Plant Each Year

24 June 2008
The production of electronic motor controls saves considerable amounts of energy wherever installed.
In HVAC applications VLT® drives saves approx. 48 % of the energy consumed by installations with other regulation techniques.

In industrial applications, where the incentive to install electronic control is optimum control, efficiency, precision, coordination, and product quality, energy savings are inevitable – approx. 10 %.

As a leading provider of motor controls worldwide, Danfoss each year produces drives that can operate 3.5 GW motor power.  When these motors are running, approx. 1.5 GW is saved, easing the stress on electricity supply.

The Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power plant being built in Finland is planned to have about 1.6 GW and is thus going to become the world's most powerful power plant. Commercial operation shall commence in 2009.
