Danfoss introduces inverters for the photovoltaic market

24 June 2007
- at the 22nd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition in Milano, Italy, from 3rd to 7th of September 2007.
Danfoss acquired PowerLynx in March this year to make Solar Inverters a new business area for the Group. By combining the PV inverter experience of PowerLynx with the power and strength of the Danfoss Group, Danfoss Solar Inverters will be a strong and dependable inverter supplier in the PV market.

Danfoss Solar Inverters’ Managing Director Henrik Raunkjær: “With this move Danfoss takes the first step to become a leading player in the photovoltaic industry. It is well known that Danfoss strives to be among the leaders in its business areas”. Danfoss will offer high performance and reliable products and service at competitive prices to gain a significant market position in the photovoltaic industry.
Danfoss Solar Inverters
40 years of experience in power electronics technology
Having 40 years of experience in power electronics technology and an annual production of more than 600,000 frequency converters, Danfoss has the experience and sourcing scale needed to become a leading inverter supplier in the PV industry. Frequency converters and PV inverters are technologically closely related, sharing 80-90% of their components. Henrik Raunkjær says: “Scale is a prerequisite for being competitive in the future PV inverter market. We are all set to play a leading role”.

Danfoss products and private labelling
Before being acquired by Danfoss, PowerLynx has solely been a private label manufacturer of PV inverters. The company has succeeded in building a strong position in the market by offering a unique product and support concept. With the introduction of Danfoss Solar Inverters, Danfoss will follow a dual market strategy. Alongside maintaining and further strengthening the private label business Danfoss now introduces a complete inverter range for the PV market.

Introduction of new 3-phase 10-15 kW inverter range in Milano, September 3
Danfoss introduces a range of 3-phase grid connected inverters in the power range 10 to 15 kW. This new product range is designed to set new standards in the PV business and offers outstanding benefits in terms of energy output, versatility and ease of installation. The complete Danfoss inverter program ranging from 1,8 to 15 kW for both residential and commercial applications will be introduced at the Milano exhibition.
