Danfoss examined by competition authorities

20 February 2009
On Tuesday, February 17, the competition authorities paid an unannounced visit to Danfoss in Nordborg, Denmark, and Flensburg, Germany. At the same time, several of Danfoss’ companies in the USA were visited by the American competition authority. The reason for the visits and the pending investigation is the suspicion of illegal pricing agreements within the compressor market.
”Danfoss is of course cooperating fully with the authorities concerning the searches and investigations which are carried out in this sort of case where competition authorities are investigating an entire sector. It is obvious that the spotlight has been turned on Danfoss too, because we are one of the big players in this market,” says Chief Reputation Officer, Ole Daugbjerg.

He emphasizes that Danfoss policy and ethical guidelines should ensure that Danfoss did not take part in any illegal and anti-competitive pricing agreements.

”We are 100% certain that the top management of Danfoss is completely unaware of any possible entrance into such an agreement. Therefore, we are closely monitoring the investigation and there should be no doubt that it will also have implications within Danfoss, if employees have taken part in any kind of illegal and anti-competitive activities,” points out Ole Daugbjerg.

He stresses the fact that Danfoss would be very surprised, if it shows that the company or some employees have participated in any such relationship.
Danfoss urges all employees to fully cooperate with the representatives of the competition authorities.
