Saving water with Danfoss components

Danfoss conserves water without compromising hygiene in Brazil

29 January 2009
Public toilet systems use vast amounts of water. Schools, airports, hospitals, shopping centres and sports centres all drain our planet’s potable water resources. Many countries don’t have enough water reserves, and the world’s supplies are dwindling – nearly one in six people, more than one billion, suffer from a lack of drinking water. Brazil is lucky to have fresh, clean water in abundance, but the country still needs to step up its efforts to maintain a clean water supply.

DRACO and Danfoss – a clean water partnership

Brazil-based DRACO Electronics offers innovative solutions for sanitation and water conservation, including automatic flush toilets. According to DRACO’s director Ricardo Dutra, the company’s products provide benefits crucial to basic human needs. And Danfoss is helping DRACO meet those needs.

When Fernando Evedove, a salesman in Industrial Automation in Brazil, heard that DRACO needed a components partner, he knew Danfoss would be a good fit. And he was right – DRACO recently tested and approved the EV220B 15-50 solenoid valve series for its line of automatic flush toilets.

The automatic-flush toilet by DRACO is controlled by a sensor to enhance sanitation and conserve water. And the automatic function, made possible with the Danfoss valve, cuts water consumption to just six litres per flush – down from 15-20 litres. This is still enough water to maintain hygiene standards – and the reduced water use also saves money. Says Dutra: “Water costs for large facilities are skyrocketing. A DRACO system brings big savings and can achieve payback in less than 2 years.”

Danfoss is confident that its technology partnership with DRACO will benefit the global environmental situation through better sanitation and water conservation.
