Art breathes new life into Group values

17 March 2008
International art talents interpret Danfoss’ corporate values in new exclusive exhibition.
His Royal Highness Prince Joachim will be present at today’s official opening of the Danfoss ArtAward exhibition at Danfoss headquarters in Nordborg, Denmark.

454 entries from students in 28 countries were submitted last year, when Danfoss held an international competition for students of art, architecture and design. The students were invited to give an artistic interpretation of the Danfoss values.

Now Danfoss is opening an exclusive exhibition with the 32 winning pieces of artwork in the newly renovated staircase at Danfoss headquarters.

Questions to stimulate curiosity
The exhibition, which covers ten floors will be open to the public every day from 13:00-16:00 hrs. from March 20–24. Afterwards the exhibition will be visible to employees, who pass by on their daily business and to visitors at Danfoss headquarters. The idea is to sharpen the interest in the Danfoss values.

”Danfoss is based on a deeply rooted set of values, and surveys are carried out regularly to ensure that the defined values can actually be measured in daily life throughout our organization. By inviting the artists to interpret our values, we have been presented new and untraditional angles on who we are and what we stand for. We believe that this will generate a lot of internal dialog about how we act and how others see us, and this is important if we are to maintain our development,” says Chief Reputation Officer at Danfoss, Ole M. Daugbjerg.

”I have been close to Danfoss all my life, and it is exciting to see how our values look differently, depending on who is looking at them. The exhibition raises challenging questions and stimulates curiosity, and that is perhaps the most important driving force at Danfoss: the desire to investigate new ways and find solutions,” explains Danfoss CEO Jørgen M. Clausen.

Prize money: 100,000 euros
An independent professional jury of international art experts has judged the submitted artwork and awarded a total prize sum of 100,000 euros to the winning artworks. Eight gold awards of 5,000 euros each were given, 12 silver awards of 3,000 euros and 12 bronze awards of 2,000 euros have also been awarded.

In the selection process the jury has favoured artworks, which were open to interpretation rather than giving ultimate answers. The result is an exquisite art exhibition, which no doubt includes one or more of the tomorrow’s prominent names in the international art world.
