Danfoss expands production at Wuqing

20 October 2009
An expansion of Danfoss Heating Controls’ production in China is set to secure long-term competitiveness and pave the way for increased sales of Danfoss products in the Chinese market. Danfoss’ Chairman Jørgen M. Clausen opened the new production line today.
Danfoss expands the current assembly of radiator valves at Wuqing to also include machining of valve bodies. In the course of 2010, this will result in approx. 60 additional work places at the factory. The expansion is part of Danfoss Heating Controls’ business strategy to improve competitiveness by basing manual production of radiator valves in China and concentrating highly automated mass-production at the factory in Viby, Denmark. The Danish factory will continue to be the competence centre for brass processing and approx. 80 per cent of the total production volume will remain in Viby.

The valves are part of Danfoss' world-renowned radiator thermostats which, when fitted instead of manual radiator valves, reduce the CO2 emission from conventional heating systems by around 100 kilos annually.

Furthermore, the expansion in Wuqing is intended to strengthen Danfoss’ presence in the Chinese market, which is believed to become increasingly important in the future. Consequently, over the next few days, Jørgen M. Clausen and a delegation from Danfoss Heating Controls will have talks with a number of official authorities, producers and suppliers about the heating control potential in China. For instance, they will meet with the Chinese Vice Minister of Housing and Urban & Rural Construction.

In addition to valves, Danfoss also produces a wide range of other products for heating and cooling technology at the factory in Wuqing. The current total number of Danfoss employees in China amount to more than 3,000 people, divided on five factories and eight sales offices.
