Hearing Device Leader Adds Solar Energy Production to International Headquarters
The international headquarters of industry-leading digital hearing device provider Widex also serves as a robust solar energy producer. The Widex international headquarters, located in Lynge, Denmark is fitted with 20.000 solar cells distributed over 600m2.
A total of fifteen Danfoss TripleLynx inverters ensure the precise MPP tracking necessary, considering the shifting conditions of the facade integration. The 120m diameter rounded building contains solar panels strategically integrated into the facade facing south, west and east.
On the bends facing north-west and north-east the facing contains a strategic lining of non-active solar cells that are slowly “pixeled” out. The remaining 16 “corner-cells” of each panel have been carefully carved by diamond saw; preventing fixated bolts from shadowing the cells and thereby affecting overall yield.
Other green thinking initiatives in the building include a geothermal system which uses groundwater as a heat reservoir and the use of rainwater within the waste management system.
