By using 1000 V string inverters installation costs can be reduced by 10% compared to central inverter solutions. This is possible because a number of elements that are used in central inverter solutions can be omitted such as junction boxes, string combiners, fuses and fuse monitoring. Moreover the use of string inverters means that no external DC breaker and no external monitoring equipment are needed as these functionalities are integrated in the string inverter. 1000 V inverters also reduce the number of strings needed thereby reducing DC cabling. Sales Manager Aksel Jepsen: "Our customers value the cost reduction potential for power plant installations using 1000 V string inverters. At the same time the simplicity and modularity of the concept is highly recognised".
Higher yield and uptime – and lower service costs
Apart from lowering installation costs the 1000 V input leads to lower losses in both AC and DC cabling. Furthermore individual MPP trackers for each of the inverter’s three strings minimise losses due to shading, snow, temperature differences and mismatching thus improving yield. String inverters also have the benefit of being a standard and well-known product. Any local installer or plant supervisor can carry out an inverter exchange. Therefore, service contracts known from central inverters are not needed.
Modularity
The modular and standardised nature of the concept makes it suitable for all power plant sizes. Large MW plants can be built up in stages as needed.
