On-Board Power Management
Today’s cars have seen a steady increase in electric load over the past several years. A large variety of safety and comfort accessories drain current out of the limited resources of the 12 Volt Generator / Battery system. Solid state power switches capable to shut off currents of several hundred Ampere, can dispatch and save energy for vital installations and avoid severe battery discharge conditions.
Reliable Body Electronics
The reliable and cost-effective packaging of modern low- to medium power control electronics for auto-motive applications is a continuous challenge. Transfer-molded components with integrated lead-frame can be an attractive solution. Major applications are small electric DC drives, auxiliary AC drives, solid-state relais and DC-DC converters or AC accessory power inverters.
Electric Power Steering
Modern Electric Power Steering Systems have numerous advantages over traditional hydraulic systems. They improve the fuel efficiency of the car by up to 5 % and can be integrated more easily into a dense engine compartment. Danfoss Power Modules for Electric and Electro-hydraulic Steering Systems are designed for excellent thermal performance, outstanding power density, compactness and high reliability under challenging load conditions. A range of design platforms are available and can be applied in every vehicle class.
Integrated Hybrid-Electric Traction Drives
Modern Hybrid-Electric Powertrains improve the fuel-efficiency of an automobile and add driving pleasure. A major challenge for future Hybrids are cost-effective and highly reliable power modules. Our new designs face the challenge of reliability, excellent thermal performance, thermal cycling capability and compactness. Danfoss can integrate the power module into the winding- and cooling structure of an electrical machine to achieve excellent packaging performance.
Electric Traction Modules and Liquid Cooling
Danfoss Traction Modules are available for all relevant voltage levels (12 - 1200 V) and power ratings (from 1 to over 100 kW). They can be used for applications in electric cars, full- and soft hybrids as well as in integrated starter-generator applications. Danfoss’ patented "Shower Power" liquid-cooler technology can provide excellent thermal management even at 105°C, integrated into the combus-tion-engine cooling circuit.
