Technologies at Danfoss Silicon Power

Our power modules are manufactured with state of the art equipment on highly automated assembly lines. As a matter of fact, they are highly competitive on quality as well as price. Furthermore, they live up to the highest quality standards within our business areas.

Danfoss Silicon Power is able to deliver power modules in all marketable standard packages, but we also design and produce custom circuitries. Our updated production equipment ensures an automated packaging of the modules directly from the semiconductor on wafer to the final electric test.

Specially trained employees program and supervise the production process in our assembly centers. Furthermore, our employees work in a calm and safe environment, promoting and ensuring a high quality of the manufacturing of power modules. The high Danfoss quality standard also applies to part manual work procedures.

Our customers are given quality at the highest level internationally. One reason being that the entire manufacturing process up to the electronic and testing processes take place under clean room conditions.

The Design of our Power Modules

Electronic power modules always consist of a number of power transistors, being able to switch currents from approx. 10 ampere to upwards of 1000-ampere with high frequencies.

We place great emphasis on creating an extremely compact structure of the entire arrangement. The engineers at Danfoss Silicon Power are experienced in working with innovative materials and modern semiconductors. This enables them to achieve minimum dimensions of the power modules, still preserving the possibility of providing the necessary maximum power dissipations.

Danfoss Silicon Power specializes in customized power modules. These types of modules are characterized by an individual chip assembly and heat sink design. The packaging is also individually designed - to meet the exact requirements of our customers.

In the layout phase, Danfoss Silicon Power also carries out the unique process of thermal simulation, enabling us to see how the finished module will react thermically. Before starting the actual production, we build prototypes to ensure an optimal design of the power modules.

We design your power modules in 3D using ProEngineer, the most powerful product development tool around. And the screen figures later materialize on one of the fastest and most advanced production lines worldwide, featuring:
  • Fully automatic double head diebonders
  • Computer controlled vacuum ovens
  • Fully automatic wirebonders
  • X-ray control of the soldering process
  • Fully automatic test area for testing electrical static parameters.Isolation firmness is tested at a high voltage test station.
