Thermodynamic Limitations and Opportunities for Reaching High Energy-Efficient Refrigeration, Heat Pump and Air Conditioning Systems

In this paper, the theoretical limitations of the Carnot process, as well as the more realistic theoretical approach of the vapour compression refrigeration cycle are examined.

By comparing these theoretical processes to real refrigeration systems, we can identify ways to improve the energy efficiency of the vapour compression cycle. And by evaluating data from existing refrigeration systems, the energy efficiency of current state-of-the-art systems can be assessed.
