Sustainability and Social Responsibility
Wherever we operate, consideration for the environment and the well-being of people is our top priority. Our aim is to promote sustainable development by preventing pollution and eliminating undesirable environmental impacts.
In 2002, we formalised our commitment to sustainable globalisation by joining the UN Global Compact, which comprises ten principles for good company ethics with regard to human rights, employee rights, environment and corruption.
The UN Global Compact Commits Danfoss to the Following Ten Principles
- We will support and respect the international declaration of human rights within our spheres of influence
- We will ensure that we are not complicit in human rights abuses
- We aim to maintain employees’ rights to unionise and recognise employees’ rights to collective bargaining
- We aim to actively fight all kinds of forced labour
- We aim to actively fight child labour
- We aim to eliminate discrimination in the work place
- We will support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges
- We will undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility
- We will encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies
- We will work against corruption, including extortion and bribery
Strict Demands on Our Suppliers
As well as the strict demands we place on ourselves, we expect our suppliers to share the same attitude. Because of this, we constantly evaluate their willingness and ability to act with us to create environmental improvements. Through our global purchasing organisation, we have implemented a global concept for selection and approval of suppliers. It includes quality, logistics, production, technology, management, employees and environment, as well as the ten principles of the UN Global Compact.
