Reduces overheating at a fraction of the size
As a leading supplier of sensors and valves to the hydraulic market, Danfoss understands that one of the most common problems encountered in hydraulic systems is overheating oil. This can result in costly repairs and, in some cases, even system shut down.
As the temperature of hydraulic oil increases, input power falls – and if the total loss of power is greater than the heat dissipated, the hydraulic system will eventually overheat. And if oil overheats, it loses its lubricating properties and increases friction and wear on hydraulic components, meaning hardened seals and increased wear to the system.
Another problem caused by high oil temperatures is reduced oil viscosity – which often leads to oil leakages. Because hydraulic components are constructed with very close tolerances, high heat and lubrication loss can also cause severe damage or seizure. Repairs can be costly and at worst, operations may have to close down.
Luckily for hydraulic system owners, Danfoss has come up with an answer. Compared with traditional shell and tube heat exchangers, Danfoss’ brazed plated heat exchanger is compact, rugged and provides much higher heat transfer capabilities – and it only requires half the installation space.
Featuring stainless steel corrugated plates to increase turbulent flow, the heat transfer rate is increased, which reduces fouling. And with the same heat transfer capacity, the brazed plate heat exchanger not only contains about 12 percent of the liquid volume, but the exchange surface is 33 percent less, and it’s 80 percent smaller in size. Simply put, you get a high heat exchange capacity, reduced oil consumption, and increased efficiency – all combined in a smaller package.
With brazed plate heat exchangers, Danfoss is helping to solve the overheating problems encountered in hydraulic systems. Contact your nearest Danfoss supplier for more information.
