Delivering optimum safety and robustness
Invented more than 50 years ago, pneumatic suspension is far from being a recent concept. Its first application was as a means of providing extra stability in motor racing vehicles. But it soon proved to be such a success that it was adapted for a host of other applications.
Most recently, the principles of pneumatic suspension have been applied to ‘air’ systems, meaning solenoid valves are needed to control the flow of the air through the elastomer bags. Increasingly, OEMs building air suspension systems are turning to Danfoss’ EV210B and EV220B valves to meet this need.
These high performance valves can operate in the toughest working conditions. The EV210B is particularly suited for smaller vehicles while the EV220B is good for many others. Both offer a compact design and improved coil systems.
Air suspension systems also require pressure switches, and Danfoss’ Saginomiya range is proving to be a top performer in tests with existing customers.
Marcio Sato, a Danfoss Sales Engineer in Brazil, says customers in his market are gradually realising the benefits of Danfoss’ solutions in the air suspension market. He explains: “This is new territory for Danfoss but our reputation for quality and our service offering is convincing many people to switch to us. People are paying a little bit more, but they don’t mind because it represents safety and security for their end-users.”
