The system protects the cable trays in the factory and consists of a Danfoss pump, a pressure relief valve, a water reservoir and a piping system in stainless steel feeding a number of nozzles. Each nozzle is fitted with a glass bulb containing a liquid. In case of fire, the bulbs break and the Danfoss pump automatically and immediately starts supplying water at about 100 bar to the nozzles to extinguish the fire. Because of the pressure and the special nozzles, the water is atomized and reduces the amount of water required to extinguish the fire. The water mist system replaces Halon systems (CFC) and is consequently more environmentally friendly. In addition to the positive influence on the environment, the customer has got a system that very rapidly can extinguish fires using only a fraction of the water normally used, thus keeping water damage at a minimum.
