Energy Efficient Heating Solutions for Lithuania

Danfoss installs Energy Efficient Solutions in Homes across Lithuania

10 February 2009
Published in Agenda #3, February 2009

The predominance of one-pipe centralized systems and the lack of new-build system regulations have made it difficult to mobilize energy efficiency in Lithuania. Danfoss works closely with local designers, installers and investors to actively encourage the uptake of more energy efficient solutions in this post-soviet territory, and is proud to report measurable success.

Savings in Heating Tariffs Sparked a Wave of New Projects

Substation Type Termix VMTD-B
In 2005, a pilot scheme in the Gandraliskes district of Klaipeda installed Danfoss substations, type Akva Lux TDP in 88 domestic flats. The benefit of a 44% saving in heating tariffs helped make the advantages of a decentralized system tangible to residents and stakeholders, and sparked a wave of similar projects across the country.

Over the last two years, 700 Danfoss substations, type Akva Lux TDP and Akva Lux TDP-F have been installed in the city of Klaipeda, as well as being implemented into all new-builds in the city of Panevezys.

The same solutions will be used for a new multi-family house project that will provide 1,742 flats for 6,000 Gandraliskes residents. It has also been confirmed that Danfoss substations, Termix VMTD types, will be used for a major multi-family house renovation initiative in the city of Kaunas later this year.
