Compact IP55/IP66 VLT® drive down to 0.25 kW

24 September 2009
Danfoss Drives present a compact A4 enclosure in protection class IP55/66 in the FC series down to 0.25 kW.

The new frame size covers:

VLT HVAC Drive:
1.1 – 2.2 kW / 200 – 240 V and
1.1 – 4.0 kW / 380 – 480 V

VLT AQUA Drive:
0.25 – 2.2 kW / 200 - 240 V and
0.37 – 4.0 kW / 380 – 480 V

VLT AutomationDrive:
0.25 – 2.2 kW / 200 - 240 V and
0.37 – 4.0 kW / 380 – (480)500 V
The A4 frame size presents a more compact solution for customers that until now have used the A5 frame in the same power range.

Motivational factors:

  • Smaller mechanical size (32%)
  • Lighter weight (9.4 kg)
  • Easier mounting and installation for customers (outside fastening holes)
  • Easy line connection (45° connector)
  • No external fan in 0.37 – 1.5 kW /380-500V and 0.25 – 0.75 kW / 200 - 240V
  • Ambient temperature: 50°C continuously (only drive on the market!)
  • Optional mains switch
  • Threaded cable entry holes for ‘metric areas’
  • Smooth cable entry holes for conduit installations
  • Easy fieldbus connection
  • Compatible with Ethernet based fieldbus options
  • Same internal hardware and software as for A5
  • All options designed for placing  in A and/or B slot(s)

Limitations compared to frame size A5:

  • No space for C options in the drive (A5 is still available in the low power range)
  • Drives without external fan must be mounted with cable entries downwards.

The new A4 enclosure will be available as from end November.

Tradition and innovation in the most modern beer brewery of Europe

The new Grolsch brewery just outside Enschede is a surprising combination of tradition and innovation. Here production managers are called “master brewer” and those talking about “factory” will be corrected immediately: we are here in a brewery! At the same time this brewery just besides highway A35 belongs to the most modern ones in Europe. Literally speaking all parts of production logistics, control technology and administration are connected in one big control network.
