Lowering Total Cost of Ownership

For many installations and systems the purchasing and installation costs are only a relatively small portion of the Total Cost of Ownership. Energy consumption accounts for the biggest part of ownership costs. Therefore, saving energy is by far the most effective way to reduce the TCO of your system or installation.

Saving energy reduces TCO

Controlling the speed of an electric motor and adjusting it to the actual need can, depending on the application, save up to 50% energy or more. VLT frequency converters also give you an energy efficiency of 98%. That means that less than 2% of the energy supplied to your electric drive system is lost, reducing your energy losses to a minimum.

However, the impact that VLT drives have on the TCO is even bigger than that

  • Controlling and reducing the speed can save you up to 50% energy
  • Less than 2% energy is lost
  • Reducing heat dissipation (energy losses) means reducing the need for forced ventilation, thus saving even more energy
  • Less heat means drives can be build close together and the size of cabinets can be reduced to a minimum
  • Less heat dissipation means the lifetime of the drive is improved
  • Full control over the speed of your motor protects the installation or production line, reducing wear and preventing unwanted stoppage
