Abroad
In 2006, the Foundation donated almost DKK 0.7 million to projects outside Denmark, primarily humanitarian aid projects.
Three humanitarian institutions which have previously received support from the Foundation also received funding for their work in 2006. The largest donation - DKK 200,000 - was given to TRO Sønderborg's Children's Home in Sri Lanka. More than 90 children live at the home, most of whom lost their parents in the South-East Asian tsunami disaster of 2004. The two other institutions were Ciudad de los Ninos in Mexico, which helps provide education for the children of poor families, and Triumph of Heart in the Ukraine, which runs a number of centres for street children.
Two hospices also received support from the Foundation. One is an out-patient children's hospice in Flensburg, Germany, which offers counselling to and provides a network for the families of children with life-threatening illnesses. The other is a hospice in Bulgaria which, besides usual hospice services, also provides food and clean laundry for poor elderly people living in the area.
The Foundation also supported a centre for disabled children in Vietnam and a project in the Phillippines which provides aid for women who struggle to survive by selling anything of value they can find on a rubbish tip.
In addition, the Foundation supported a number of projects concerned with sport and culture in South Schleswig, Germany.
