Danfoss is a global company, and takes co-responsibility for sustainable development in the areas and countries in which the group is operating. The group’s policies concerning working environment, environment and social responsibility ensure high managerial focus on the compliance with national and international guidelines and declarations.
Danfoss has production facilities in around 60 locations worldwide and, therefore, impacts the surrounding environment in the form of noise, waste, the emission of flue gases and waste water. It is Danfoss’ clear objective that nowhere in the world must the production result in an unacceptable impact on the environment. Furthermore, the environmental impact is required to decrease over time and lead to a reduction of the group’s overall impact on the surrounding environment.
Factories with more than 20 employees are required to be certified according to ISO 14001, and all Danish factories are also required to be certified according to OHSAS 18001. However, one Danish factory still needs to become certified.
In 2009, the group had 56 factories that are set to be ISO 14001-certified, of which 51 have been certified, while the remaining are working on certification.
Since the 1990s, Danfoss has had sharp focus on avoiding using substances and materials which could have a harmful effect on humans or the environment. The list of the unwanted substances is called the Negative List and it also applies to suppliers.
