Most companies must, inevitably, consider the climate debate and global warming as a challenge that needs to be dealt with. The emission of greenhouse gases must be reduced, so in order to reach the targets, the majority of companies must think along other lines and adjust operations.
The Kyoto Protocol from 1992 was the first global initiative aimed at reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, and there are great expectations for the replacement of the Kyoto Protocol which is expected to be negotiated and finalised in Copenhagen in 2009.
As a global company, Danfoss wants to contribute to reaching the goals of the Copenhagen climate summit.
Danfoss’ commitment to the climate
In 2007, the EU launched an action plan detailing how European countries can reduce their energy consumption and become less dependent on supplies of oil and natural gas. Danfoss has examined the plan carefully, because it sets out the practical framework for how the group should develop over the next years. It is Danfoss’ goal to contribute to the global reduction of the CO2 emission via the group’s energy-saving products and via the reduction of the CO2 emission which derives from its own activities. Therefore, the group is currently working on an ambitious plan with targets within energy consumption and emission of greenhouse gases from both the company’s own sources and from the purchase of energy.
