Danfoss opened its lobby office in Brussels in August 2009 and has, among other things, contributed with information to be used for the phrasing of EU’s Energy Performance Building Directive.
One of Danfoss’ proposals for the requirements was incorporated into the final directive: increase the number of inspections of heating and air-conditioning systems, in order to remove the most energy-consuming products from the market, while minimising the administrative strain put on member countries and occupants of buildings.

Furthermore, heat pumps and district heating have become central technologies in EU's ambition to obtain 20% renewable energy by 2020 – an area Danfoss is pleased to have seen progress.

In the US Danfoss has collaborated with other interest groups and political institutions in order to obtain consensus on the phasing out of HFC refrigerants. The result is a draft bill and a US proposal to include this phase out in the Montreal Protocol.

Danfoss is very interested and involved in energy and environmental politics and thus have arranged a series of symposia on this, and hosting forums where ideas on politics, technologies and energy-friendly solutions potentially can shape an energy-efficient industrial sector.

Corporate Citizenship

Danfoss’ overall goal within Corporate Citizenship is "keeping our own house in order".
This applies to employees, so that they have an attractive workplace and a healthy working environment. It applies to the environment, where Danfoss products contribute to energy savings, and where the environmental impact of their production is constantly being reduced.
And it applies, in a broad sense, to social and ethical responsibility.
Efforts are continually being intensified, because when employee satisfaction is high, consumption of resources is as low as possible, and the company’s ethics and reputation are good, the result is a positive effect on the accounting bottom line.
